As a Ravensburg family business, we have been manufacturing products specifically designed for theatre painting for over 30 years.
Our range has been developed in cooperation with many theatre painters and is handmade in Ravensburg, Germany. The quality of the raw materials is of utmost importance to us.
The core of our range is our modular painting system. For maximum professionalism and effectiveness, you can combine different handles with different brushes or attachments and put them together according to your individual needs. Handles, heads and brushes are all available in a variety of lengths and sizes to offer you maximum flexibility.
The high quality of our products and the unique reusability of each model makes our range a cost-saving alternative.Our other theatre painting products, which were developed for different techniques in theatrical painting, also distinguish us as an innovative manufacturer. Our quality
The products from Grossmann manufacturing, are still
almost exclusively handmade today.
The materials have changed over time and are now of
significantly higher quality: stainless steel sheets,
solvent-resistant brush putty and specially selected
Chungking bristles from China.
These bristles are specially trimmed and boiled
straight three times, to ensure their dimensional
stability.
The result is a first-class artists' brush that meets the
specific requirements theatre painting.
Around the brush
Brushes are among the oldest tools in the world. They were not invented in the classical sense, but have evolved over thousands of years.
This is proven by the discovery of a painter's studio in 1926 in the famous caves of Altamira. In addition to charcoal and rubbing stones, tubular bones with hair of various lengths and sizes were found there. These were used to create the unique cave paintings, which have been dated to around 15,000 BC.
